Desirable but can wait.
(58). Toe Vall. A precaution against a land slide.
Desirable but not essential.
(59). A trifling matter which could be fitted into some general vote for minor works.
(60). Tsat Tze Mui Quarry. This is the most important quarry used by the Public Works Department. Extension is essential owing to the expansion of the activities of the
department.
(61).
Telephone cables. In order to avoid the recurrence of interruptions caused in the past by the destruction of overhead wires by typhoons it is very desirable to place all
cables underground.
(62). Wireless Station. A tentative estimate. It is impossible to forecast what will be necessary as everything
depends on what is decided with regard to the general question of Imperial wireless communications.
(63). Garage at Victoria Hospital. Would be convenient
and as cost is so small might be done but is not essential.
(64). Accounts Office at Police Station. Desirable. (65). A general vote to which several of the small items
shown separately above might be charged.
(66) & (67). Plant. Necessary for carrying out the
works.
(68) to (83).
Waterworks. The water question is so
important here that all these works ought to be pressed on as rapidly as possible with the exception of (82), of which
I think the cost is too high to justify the work being
undertaken within the next few years, and possibly (79)
which may not be required as some of the proposals for developing Stanley have fallen through. All these works except the small ones (70), (73), (79), (80) & (81) should
in my opinion be regarded as loan-works.
